Episode 44 - Final Fantasy Adventure
Tuesday Dec 12, 2017
Tuesday Dec 12, 2017
This November we played through our first ever title on the original Game Boy. Hosts, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81), are joined by special guest, RF Generation site member, and gray brick aficionado, MetalFRO (aka. The Game Boy Guru) to discuss the classic, action/adventure RPG, Final Fantasy Adventure. In this episode, the guys discuss the gameplay, the weapons and items, the somewhat convoluted story, and the game's surprisingly complex music. Did this game pass the classic gaming "sniff test" for all of the guys, or is it just another lackluster relic from days of yore? And which game series does it have more in common with, Final Fantasy or the Mana Chronicles? The answer to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast. You won't want to miss it!

Episode 43 - Until Dawn
Thursday Nov 16, 2017
Thursday Nov 16, 2017
This October included some more back-to-back love for the PS4 as hosts, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81), once again fired up their newly acquired systems and played through Supermassive Games interactive, survival horror title, Until Dawn. In this episode, the guys discuss the gameplay, the story, the characters, the game's graphics and environments, and whether this game truly offers the player as much freedom of "choice" as it seems to advertise. Which endings did the guys get and were they able to save the characters they liked most? What did they think about the game's ending(s)? Would they recommend this game to others? And what's with their love of snarky women? The answers to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast. You won't want to miss it!

Friday Oct 13, 2017
This month, hosts Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81) discuss their first playthrough together on the Playstation 4, Team Ico's heavily anticipated effort, The Last Guardian. In this episode, we discuss the game's funky mechanics, its story, the art style, music, and its AI. What are our host's thoughts on the game's ending? Was Shawn able to set aside his snuggly feels for his pets while creating a relationship with Trico? And is Rich the worst father ever for allowing his kids to watch him play this game? The answers to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast. You won't want to miss it!

Wednesday Sep 13, 2017
Wednesday Sep 13, 2017
Last month, we joined our friends from the Cartridge Club in a dual site playthrough of Journey on the PS3 and PS4. In this episode of the RF Generation Playcast, hosts Rich (singlebanana), Shawn (GrayGhost81), brothers P1 and P2 (Cartridge Club), and Jake from the Polykill podcast as we discuss this short, but deeply moving effort from thatgamecompany. In this episode, we discuss the game's mechanics (or lack therefore), the story, the game's use of color and music, and what effect our individual playthroughs had on us. What peculiar organ did Rich believe he was tracking towards? How did Shawn's second playthrough compare to his original from years ago? Why would Ghandi have loved playing this game? And out of the five of us, who has the biggest scarf? The answers to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast. You won't want to miss it!

Episode 39 - Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
Thursday Jul 13, 2017
Thursday Jul 13, 2017
Join RF Generation Playcast hosts, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81), as the "Dynamic Duo" (R.I.P. Adam West) discuss one of Ninja Theory's early, third-person, action/adventure titles, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. This month's Playcast flashes forward (...errr we kinda hope not) into dystopian America where humans are being "enslaved" by a mysterious source and our world has been taken over by blood-thirsty robots. Yeeeeeesh! In this episode, we talk about the gameplay mechanics, some "despicable" and yummy characters, the game's soundtrack, and pose our thoughts on Enslaved's ending. Did this game's sometimes glitchy tendencies muck up what could have been a great title? Did Rich's modern game skill shortcomings prevent him from finishing the game? And how does Shawn reeeeeeeeeally feel about "Hidden Gems?" The answers to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast!

Episode 38 - Syberia
Tuesday Jun 13, 2017
Tuesday Jun 13, 2017
Join RF Generation Playcast hosts, Rich (singlebanana), Shawn (GrayGhost81), and long time RF Generation member and front page contributor, Addicted, as they discuss a popular, point-and-click PC title from 2002, Syberia. This month's Playcast travels through Old World, European communities inhabited by humans and marvelous, mechanical, masterpieces called automatons. In this month's podcast, we take an in-depth look at Syberia's fantastic narrative, beautiful, steampunk art style, and its stripped down game mechanics. This title has received praise from point-and-click enthusiasts, but how does it set on the palates of our fine, gaming connoisseurs? Did this game's messages find their way into the hearts and minds of our participants, or are they simply muddled due to other shortcomings? And can the boys ever figure out how to line up a call correctly? The answers to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast!

Episode 37 - Child of Light
Sunday May 14, 2017
Sunday May 14, 2017
Join RF Generation Playcast hosts, Rich (singlebanana), Shawn (GrayGhost81), and YouTuber, RF Generation and Cartridge Club member, and co-host of the Retro Fandango podcast, Kevin (BuriedOnMars) as they discuss a big league developer's title that has a very indie look and feel. This month's Playcast ventures into a magnificent, limbo-like world of fantasy where a young lady struggles to get back to the world of the living and save her dying father. In this month's podcast, we take an in-depth look at Ubisoft's Child of Light. This title has received overwhelming praise from reviewers, but is it a meal fit for our finicky co-hosts' palates? What mechanics make the gameplay of this super, compact RPG so distinct? And even though they all scream, does anyone actually get any ice cream? The answers to these questions and many more in this episode of the RF Generation Playcast!

Episode 36 - Diablo
Friday Apr 14, 2017
Friday Apr 14, 2017
Join RF Generation Playcast hosts, Rich (singlebanana), Shawn (GrayGhost81), and former Playcast co-host Steven (Disposed Hero) as they discuss one of the most well-known and genre-defining PC titles of the last 20 years. This month's Playcast crawls deep into the bowels of Hell to seek out and destroy it's formidable caretaker during March's site playthrough discussion of Diablo. One of Blizzard's first entries that helped establish the famed developer, Diablo thrilled fans of action/adventure RPGs during it's time. But, how does this game hold up after 20 years, and will this retro pick impress some of our more modern gaming centric hosts? How do the PC and PS1 versions compare, and which should you play? And does The Butcher still make us s#%t our pants just as he did in days of yore? The answers to these questions and many more in this episode of the RF Generation Playcast!

Episode 35 - Murdered: Soul Suspect
Tuesday Mar 14, 2017
Tuesday Mar 14, 2017
Join RF Generation Playcast hosts, Rich (singlebanana), Shawn (GrayGhost81), and returning guest, Pam (host of Cannot Be Tamed and Media Mavens) as they discuss a lesser known title from a well-known developer. This month's Playcast plunges into Febrauray's site playthrough of Murdered: Soul Suspect, which was developed by Square Enix. Opinions of this game typically range from both ends of the spectrum, so how will our cast of gamers fall on it? Is it worth the few bucks a used copy commands, or are you better off leaving it on the shelf? Did Rich enjoy the overall narrative? Did Pam take issue with the combat? And did Shawn enjoy making little cat sounds? Be sure to tune in to this episode of the RF Generation Playcast to find out!
