Episode 85 - Axiom Verge

In this month's episode of the PlayCast, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81) are joined by Collectorcast co-host and friend Bil (wildbil52) to discus the indie, Metroidvania hit, Axiom Verge. As usual, we discuss the ins-and-outs of the gameplay, the graphics and environments, the sounds, and unlike other episodes, spend a great deal of time on the story. In this month's Concertcast segment, the boys add to your summer listening playlist as they dive into their favorite albums of 1997. Will Shawn's first experience with the game be favorable?  And will Rich and Bil come away loving Axiom Verge as much as they did when first playing it?  Tune in and find out!

As always, we are happy to hear your thoughts on the games we play on our discussion page (linked below). We will respond to your comments and are always happy to discuss the games in detail. Please be sure to rate and write a review of the show on iTunes and/or Podbean to help us increase our listenership. Thanks for the listen, we hope you enjoy the show!

Episode 84 - Transistor

In this month's episode of the PlayCast, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81) turn hepcats as they discuss Super Giant's indie darling, Transistor, and create a list of recommended jazz albums in this month's ConcertCast segment. Shawn is admittedly not a big fan of SG's first title, Bastion, so how will returning to play another game by this developer fair? The guys breakdown all of the ins and outs of the game, including gameplay mechanics, graphics, and the game's lush soundtrack. Is Transistor a crumbling utopian, sci-fi adventure that you should add to your collection or download queue, or is it best left in the bargain bin?  Stay tuned and fine out!

Episode 83 - Eternal Eyes

In this month's episode of the Playcast, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81) tackle a lesser known, but apparently, widely dislike RPG for the original Playstation, Eternal Eyes.  Join them as they discuss this Pokemon-like, magic heavy title, and breakdown the gameplay, story, graphics, and sound. In the ConcertCast, the guys reveal their Top 10 R&B and soul songs of the 1960's, and of course, there are a few honorable mentions. Do you fancy Japanese body pillows? Episode 77 - Elite Beat Agents & Rhythm Heaven

In this month's episode, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81) get into the groove as they peck and flick their styluses to the beat of two Nintendo DS rhythm games, Elite Beat Agents & Rhythm Heaven. These two very Japanese-esque titles are very fun and quirky, but couldn't be more different in terms of gameplay, sound, and art styles.  Which of these games did the guys prefer over the other? Who couldn't even finish the first stage of Rhythm Heaven? And whose frustrations made them murder their couch with a stylus? Tune in and fine out!
